I hear ya.  I actually keep my pretty much muted except for when it tells me im in parking/normal mode.  The reason for that is I have my led's turned off as well so I'd like to know what recording mode it's in.

I'm new to Blackvue products...is there anything I should be aware of regarding the power magic pro?  Why don't you like it?

I've actually used BlackVue for almost two years, first the original 400 model, now the 400 v.II.

With the PowerMagic, I had my battery (a new Bosch S5) go flat twice, and although it might have been the fact that I don't drive this car that often, plus all the gizmos (like comfort windows closure, etc) consume certain amount of power, and not the actual PowerMagic Pro fault as such, I thought it would be prudent to do away with recording in parked mode altogether, so I eBayed the thing

Now, when/if I'm ready to go back to such a power management device, I'd prefer to be able to set a cut-off threshold at about 12.5V at the very least, so will look at one of the custom units available from a member here...

Hi,
thanks for the info. After change version.bin both the GPS LED and Speedometer working fine now.
However now the clock is about 2 hr faster.

I tried 'export TZ=KST-08:00.00' (I'm in Hong kong, GMT+8) in /root/.profile but not success.

hkskyliner, for correct time you must be under clear skydome and GPS LED must be "ON" (not flashing)
next. del all files in Records and System folders and start your BlackVue again (under clear sky)

Следовал инструкции с первого поста, после перезагрузки девайса начало писать файлы с верной датой и временем, но, в Live был косяк с датой и временем, вытирание всех ранее записанных видео с флешки (больше ничего не вытирал) помогло при первом же ребуте. Опять же, спасибо за материал 

тут ветка на английском. будьте внимательней.

I followed the instructions in the first post of this theme, after reloading device I got files with correct date and time, but in Live mode time and date was not real, deleting of all previous recorded videos from SD card makes all the best after next reboot. Thanks for instructions

i cannot vi /root/.profile
everytime i type this line, the wifi turns off and disconnects from telnet session
i never have a chance to even look at the .profile file
